In the late 1920s, Fr. Bowlen organized the Catholic community across Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Hartell, and Longview into a single parish. Under his leadership, local residents came together to build a church in Black Diamond. St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church opened in 1929, just as the discovery of new oil fields began drawing more residents to the area. Nearly a century later under Paul's architectural direction, the church has undergone a sensitive renovation to improve accessibility and extend its legacy of community service. A new elevator was thoughtfully integrated into the existing structure, enhancing access to all levels while preserving the historic character and architectural integrity of the original building.
